Codi is a happy, energetic bouncy little man who is a joy to have around the home!
Codi is very playful and sweet – giving kisses and hopping up for a cuddle regularly. He is respectful of older dogs and loves to play with other Chihuahuas. Codi is sociable and confident and has no trouble telling off dogs if they are over-stepping his boundaries, however he does not do so to excess.
Codi was also known to play with his former owners’ cat. Codi is great with kids who are dog savvy and know to be gentle, given he is only 1.5kg ! We are working with Codi to ensure he learns some obedience commands and on strengthening his toilet-training.
Codi had a somewhat rough start to life contracting parvo at a couple of months of age (Oct 2017). This led to a period of increased liver enzymes. However, recent blood tests confirm his liver is now within normal range. We would advise the new Adopter keep checking those levels at 6-monthly intervals for the first year to ensure they continue to be safe. We have put Codi on a probiotic to ensure his gut is healthy and recovered.
Codi will undergo surgery for slipping patellas with NZCR and a dental (to remove a few retained baby teeth) before being available for adoption. We do not have a timeline on when Codi will be ready.
An adopter based in the Canterbury area who is able to give him some further training in terms of obedience.
Codi needs a strong pack leader to show him how to be the perfect gentleman and continue the training he has begun in foster care.
Codi is active so he requires someone who can put the time into him in terms of taking him for a walk and ensuring he does not get bored.
Must have a fully-fenced yard with no holes or gaps.
Adoption Fee: TBC
Codi's fee has not been set as yet as we have decided not to adopt him out prior to his patella surgery and dental.
