Private surrender, change in owner's circumstances, no further details provided. Brad was a beloved pet, he comes with all of his former possessions - toys, clothes, blankets, toothbrush and ear-cleaner etc. Brad was his former name, he then became "Peppi" but we already have one of those in care (and with his foster!) so we have reverted to his first name.
Brad is a happy go lucky, VERY energetic "pinball" of a dog who loves people and affection. He needs an active adopter who can spend time training him and taking him on plenty of walks. The first word that comes to mind when thinking of Brad is "energetic!". Brad is curious and lively. We feel that he would likely thrive in a busy, active home environment. Brad would enjoy a lot of people around him and children are fine - he likes the extra pats, cuddles and affection. Brad is not the dog for those looking for a quiet, calm, lazy companion.
In terms of other dogs, Brad is fine with them. However, they might not enjoy his presence due to his energetic personality he can be a lot for other dogs to handle. Brad does take the warnings that he gets into account from other dogs (ie. lip curl or growl) after some time. But it is clear that Brad has not grown up around other dogs and so he needs to learn how to behave respectfully around them. Brad should not be considered as a companion for an older dog, he would be far too much energy.
* More information to be added at a later date - once we get to know Brad better.
Brad will receive his preliminary check with our vet and then we anticipate he will be cleared medically to adopt . Any medical issues will be noted here. We haven't noticed any issues thus far and he is very young. Brad has been flea and wormed while in Trust care (we do so every 3 months). Brad is vaccinated up to date, de-sexed, and micro-chipped with his details added to the NZCAR database.
*** Thank you for your interest - Brad is currently unavailable as he is on trial and we are not accepting further applications for him at present. Please view our other dogs profiles***
- Secure fencing is a must. Brad can be a high jumper. He will need a fully enclosed property with fences of a decent height, no holes or gaps.
- Brad would suit an adopter that is home much of the time, as this is what he is used to. Part-time workers, retired yet very active, or able to take Brad to work regularly would be great. No full time workers please - as per his notes above, he was surrendered as his owner began full time work.
- Someone willing to commit to training Brad - he needs to learn his basic commands and recall.
- Brad would be great with another dog of a similar energy - must be a playful, energetic, young dog. He would simply annoy an older dog and it wouldn't be fair on them to bring in an energetic, young puppy like Brad.
- Owner would need to be able to walk Brad at least once a day.
- He would probably thrive in a busy family environment! Currently fostered with two small girls and he is good with kids.
* Further requirements may be added at a later date.
NOTE: Before applying for our dogs, please do read the above adopter requirements and ensure that you meet these. We are very clear about the homes we are seeking. We set the adopter requirements after consultation with the foster carers and consideration of the dogs, needs, welfare and personality. They are strict requirements - no exceptions. Please do not submit an application if you do not meet the above, we will simply respond to confirm the application is declined. Unfortunately, at times this has been the case and we have had to disappoint prospective adopters. This is why we are clear about our requirements prior and note them above.
Adoption Fee: $500.00
NOTE ON THE ADOPTION FEES AND TRIALS: Our adoption fees are determined by taking into account age of the dog, overall health and funds expended to date on that particular dog. The trust uses these adoption fee funds on: desexing surgery, micro-chip and NZCAR registration, vaccines, Council registration, flea and worm treatments, plus any other essentials dogs require such as specialist medications or food, blood-testing, orthopedic surgeries etc. and any other dog disposables required for dogs in care. Please note: sorry we do not accept payment plans, as we need to be sure adopters are able to financially support dogs prior to adoption - sorry, no exceptions. Please note: the deposit needs to be made to the trust account prior to the changeover date of the dog going on trial. We do not accept cash payments on the date. The full100% of all adoption fees go towards the dogs in the care of the Trust.
