Background:
Hollie was surrendered alongside Pepe after her owner suffered a bereavement. Since the death in her family she will be moving homes and down-sizing, so she has chosen to re-home some of her animals. Pepe and Hollie are very different personality-wise and Pepe tends to pick on/growl at Hollie, so they will NOT be adopted together. They are doing fine separated.

Personality:
Hollie is described by her former owner as very smoochy and snuggly, she loves pats and as much attention from humans as possible. Hollie loves people, she’s great with meeting strangers as she just loves attention. Hollie is just full of love. She is toilet-trained and loves going for drives in the car. Hollie is active and energetic, she loves playing with toys and will also "fetch"

Hollie has a happy go lucky demeanor. She has grown up with a former owner who breeds cats, has young grandchildren and other chihuahuas.

Hollie has a tendency to howl when left alone, probably a symptom of separation anxiety. She would not be suited to an Adopter who works long hours or a home without an existing well-balanced small breed dog. At present, she is learning to be crate trained, we recommend the adopter continue with this.

Health:
Hollie had her preliminary check with our vet on 22 February 2020. Hollie was vaccinated up to date, flea and wormed. The vet confirms his heart, patellas and joints are all fine.  Although one of her knees has a bit of a "crunch" to it which may indicate arthritis. It is not sore to medicate at present but will need an eye kept on it.

Hollie had a dental on 12/03/2020 - no extractions, just a good clean!

Hollie does require some weight-loss, she is at 3.4kg currently and needs to be around 2.8kg.

Hollie was de-sexed on 1 March 2020.

Adopter Requirements:

- Hollie is to be homed separate from Pepe.

- If applying from out of Canterbury to adopt Hollie, you will need to travel to meet Hollie here in Christchurch, no exceptions. Please refer to our "out of town adoption policy" under the adoptions tab above.

- Any prospective Adopter must have a fully fenced backyard with no holes or gaps (pictures to be provided with application form).

- Sorry NO full time workers - very part time, active but retired and those who work from home will be a great match. Hollie suffers from separation  anxiety and may become destructive if left without human companionship for too long.

- Must have at least one existing small dog for companionship. Not suitable as an only dog.

- Any children in the home must be older and doggy-knowledgeable. No exceptions.

* Further adopter requirements may be added in due course.

NOTE: Before applying for our dogs, please do read the above adopter requirements and ensure that you meet these. We are very clear about the homes we are seeking. We set the adopter requirements after consultation with the foster carers and consideration of the dogs, needs, welfare and personality. They are strict requirements - no exceptions. Please do not submit an application if you do not meet the above, we will simply respond to confirm the application is declined. Unfortunately, at times this has been the case and we have had to disappoint prospective adopters. This is why we are clear about our requirements prior and note them above.

Adoption Fee:  $500.00

Fee determined by taking into account age, health and funds expended to date. Please note: sorry we do not accept payment plans, as we need to be sure adopters are able to financially support dogs prior to adoption. The deposit needs to be made to the trust account prior to the dog going on trial. The full100% of all adoption fees go towards the dogs in the care of the Trust.
