Lola has been surrendered as her former owners feel they are unable to give her the attention she requires as they both work full time. They have made the difficult choice to send Lola to us, so that we can find a home that better suits her needs and will give her more daytime company.
Lola is very sweet and affectionate. She loves to be around people and her former owner believes she would be best suited as a companion dog to someone who has lots of time to spend with her during the day. Lola loves to snuggle next to you on the couch.
Lola is playful and enjoy toys. Lola has been brought up around larger dogs and is good with cats and other dogs. Although Lola is fairly independent though and isn't overly interested in playing with the others. She is fine around other dogs but would also enjoy being an only dog.
Lola is scared of loud noises (ie. lawn-mower, vacuum cleaner etc.) she doesn't overly enjoy going outside but is toilet-trained. Lola travels well in the car.
Lola is very small for a Chihuahua, will need steps up onto couches and beds and to be lifted on/off high furniture or into the car so she does not damage her little joints.
Lola appears to be in great health, she was checked out by our vet on 18/09/2019 and cleared as fit for adoption. Her teeth are fine but as she is a Chihuahua with a particularly small muzzle regular dentals (annually) are recommended. Her next dental is due in Sept 2020.
Lola has a Grade 1 luxating patella on her left side. A very common Chihuahua issue. The grading is minor and just something to keep an eye on in future. Our Vet confirms she is not a surgical candidate at present, it is possible it may never progress to requiring surgery.
- No full time workers. Lola will need an adopter who is retired, works from home or is very part time. Lola needs daytime company and this was the reason for her surrender.
- Canterbury or Marlborough applicants preferred (her foster lives in both locations) but willing to adopt outside of Canterbury if the Adopter is able to adhere to our out of town policy - see adoptions page for more info.
- Fully fenced backyard with no gaps or holes - Lola is particularly small!
- No families with young children under 7 years please.
$500.00 Fee determined by taking into account age, health and funds expended to date. Please note: sorry we do not accept payment plans, as we need to be sure adopters are able to financially support dogs prior to adoption. The deposit needs to be made to the trust account prior to the dog going on trial. 100% of all adoption fees go towards the dogs in the care of the Trust.
