Background:

Pippin was a much loved family pet. However, due to a change in family circumstances, his owner will now be frequently traveling and doesn't feel it is fair on Pippin to be unsettled. Pippin also hates the kennel environment. Pippin's former owner is selflessly letting Pippin go to find a new home where he can continue to be a much adored pet.

Personality:

Pippin's former owner describes Pippin as "happy, playful and cuddly." Pippin is used to daytime company, he loves his daily walk and likes routine. Pippin also loves car rides.

Pippin is toilet trained and able to use a grass tray for an indoor toilet. Pippin fine with other dogs and being fostered in a pack of calm Chihuahuas. He has been fine when meeting children outside the house on leashed walks, never lived with any. Pippin tolerates the cat he lived with up to a point - but can become excitable. Pippin is a great guard dog, barking when people enter initially but settling down and hopping up on their lap eventually.

Pippin has a very sweet and friendly personality. He is young and loves to play. He would suit a family, with children to run around with and/or another small breed dog as a playmate. Pippin is a typical puppy and needs to be kept busy.

Health:

Pippin is de-sexed, vaccinated up to date and micro-chipped. Pippin is also flea and wormed.

Pippin is around 4.9kgs at present so will be with us while he completes some weight loss. Any Adopter will need to continue his diet and ensure he is kept around 3kgs ideally.

We have no concerns about Pippin's health, however all of our dogs are checked by our Vet prior to adoption.

Adopter Requirements:

- No full time workers. Pippin has always been with someone who works from home and prefers day time company. If he had dog company to be left with, a part time worker would be fine. Otherwise retired but active, or working from home would be ideal.

- Fully fenced backyard, with no holes or gaps.

- Adopter with Chihuahua / little dog knowledge would be an asset.

- Pippin would do well with one other Chihuahua or small breed dog around a similar age-range.

- Pippin would suit an active family with perhaps another dog to run around with. He is young and vibrant and would be bored if kept home too much. He is always on the go!

Adoption Fee:  $700.00   Fee determined by taking into account to his age, health and funds expended to have him Council registered for 2019/2020, micro-chipped, NZCAR registered, vaccinated, flea and wormed, and de-sexed.

Please note: sorry we do not accept payment plans, as we need to be sure adopters are able to financially support dogs prior to adoption. The deposit needs to be made to the trust account prior to the dog going on trial. 100% of all adoption fees go towards the dogs in the care of the Trust.

Pippin comes with: Council tags, vet book, bed and bedding, an ACANA/Orijen  Adopter pack (which includes various goodies and the food  she has been fed on).
