Are you looking to adopt from us?

The above dogs are some of the dogs that are in our care currently. Their status' are marked clearly above and updated regularly. Do not email us asking about dogs in our care - we will refer you back to this page.

Please remember: We are not dog breeders or a pet shop constantly receiving in dogs. We are a charity not a business, so we cannot confirm when more dogs will come in to the Rescue and become available. We take in dogs that need help and may come with their own unique "quirks" and adopter requirements. In terms of adoption, we see ourselves as working for our dogs. It is not a first in first served process. We pair dogs with families that suit them and have many wonderful and patient adopters waiting for dogs from us also.

If you are interested in any of our dogs, please submit an application form (together with recent photos of your property and landlord consent, if renting) to the email address provided on the form. Once the information is received we will contact you. Failure to provide all information may result in a delayed or declined application.

We have adopted dogs throughout New Zealand. Please go to the adoption tab above and read the information on our process for out of Town adoptions. Only certain dogs (being fostered in the North or able to fly from Christchurch) will be available to be adopted by out of town adopters. Read more about this in our FAQ.

For more information on our processes and adoption, please read the "FAQ" at the bottom of that page and our Adoption Agreement. We expect that you know this information upon applying and agree to be bound by it.

Adoption Process and Forms Here

What if none of the above dogs are suitable for me?

If the current dogs above are not available in your area, or do not suit your lifestyle, but you wish to adopt from us in future, you may still submit an application form to be retained in our database. After you submit your application, we will notify you if you have been accepted and you are added to the database.

This way, should we advertise any dogs in future that are suitable you can email us expressing your interest. No need to submit a new form but please ensure that you inform us at any time of any changes in circumstances. Please also let us know you are no longer able to adopt or adopt elsewhere after being placed on our database.

At times, we may receive dogs that the former owners do not wish for us to advertise on social media and we exclusively consult pre-approved adopters in our database. This is another benefit of submitting your application.

Please note - submitting an application and/or being approved does not place an obligation on the Trust to provide you with a dog. We are not breeders or a pet store and do not act in a demand and supply manner. We take in dogs that need assistance and cannot guarantee as to when new dogs will come in.

Please do not email or Facebook message us asking what dogs are available. We will simply refer you back to this website as the dogs in our care are noted above. We do NOT provide individual updates on dogs via email to prospective adopters, we place general updates on our website and social media only.
